I kept seeing a dark and rainy forecast every day during the week leading up to Alison & Ian's intimate wedding ceremony at Sunstone Vineyards on a cool January afternoon this winter, but the clouds cleared as soon as I arrived. The sun stayed out long enough to burn a pastel sunset for us with snow-capped mountains in the distance, on the horizon of the Santa Ynez Valley. They say a little rain on your wedding day is good luck, after all.
Normally on wedding days my focus is mainly on the couple (of course), but today I had the chance to hang out with their family and spend a little extra time with a portrait session. That's one of my favorite parts of shooting elopements and intimate ceremonies: I get to know everyone there that much more.
Alison and Ian's daughter, Lylah, was their flower girl for the day and present with us every step of the way. Lylah even helped make sure her mother's train was beautifully fanned out behind her, then the ceremony began.
After cutting the cake and sharing a few hugs with family and friends, we had a chance to sneak away for couple's portraits during the best of the afternoon light.
A HUGE thank you to the wonderful team who pulled it all together:
